So, how exactly does this superfood affect hair and why is it so versatile when it comes to treating hair issues? It's because of the nutrients found in flaxseeds. Rich in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, flaxseeds help regenerate hair follicles. The seeds not only help you achieve healthy, shiny hair but also improve blood circulation and, thereby, slow down hair’s aging process.

They are also an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which promote hair growth, nourish hair follicles and improve elasticity. Natural nourishing effects in this superfood make hair soft and easier to comb while preventing dandruff and oily hair. Flaxseeds provide a quick remedy if you have either of the two - they keep the pH level in balance while the oil-producing sebaceous glands are kept in check.

Regular use is important. This is the only way to prevent dandruff and hair loss - good reasons to include flaxseed in your weekly beauty routine.

Let me share with you my secret recipe:

Mix 2 tsp flaxseed gel (see below) with 1 tsp aloe vera gel and 2 tsp coconut oil.

To make flaxseed gel:

Add 2 tbsp of flaxseeds and 1 cup of water to a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the flame and simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Stir constantly (to prevent the seeds from sticking to the bottom) until the water takes on a gelatinous consistency. To check if the gel is ready, dip a spoon into the gel and gently bring it up, if the gel flows threadlike from the spoon, it is finished. Drain while still hot with a steel strainer. The gel will thicken as it cools.

Apply the flaxseed-aloe vera- coconut oil mixture to the hair and scalp. Wash out thoroughly after 30 minutes. Flaxseed, aloe vera and coconut oil contain all the essential nutrients needed to maintain a healthy scalp. This combination is a true magic formula!
